Our History

In April of 2002 Pastor Ron started flying back and forth from California to Myrtle Beach every other Saturday to have Bible studies in the local high school.

In July 2002, Pastor Ron moved his family from Napa, California to Myrtle Beach and started a Saturday night service in the Kroger supermarket community room. 

From the supermarket, CCMB moved to an old, run down denominational church just blocks from the beach. After 6 months it was apparent that the building was undersized for the growing congregation. 

In June of 2003 CCMB took over a storefront space in the Big Deals Flea Market, and was now centrally located for the growing congregation. 

In the fall of 2003, CCMB launched its website. Which led to more people learning about Calvary Chapel Myrtle Beach. It continues to be a great blessing for us here at CCMB to be able to reach out and let people know that they are welcome here and that we have safe pastures in which to feed from. 

In July of 2004 we expanded from one store front in the Big Deals Flea Market to three storefronts. Tripling our space, adding more room for the children and increasing the sanctuary to seat more. 

In 2008 the church moved to a new location on Belleterre Blvd. The church experienced more growth, which led it to move to its current location. 

In May 2011 CCMB took another step of faith and took over an abandoned charter school building. 

In 2014 Calvary Chapel took a new step of faith with its approval of a low power FM radio station. 101.5 WXMB began with a service of a 7-mile radius in Myrtle Beach and the surrounding areas. 

In 2019 CCMB began a new venture in faith with the purchase of our Arrowood Retreat center and camp in Spartanburg, SC. The vision is to allow other Calvary Chapel’s to have summer camps and host retreats in this part of the East Coast. 

In the summer of 2020 Calvary Chapel Myrtle Beach reopened after the initial shutdown of churches during the pandemic. This allowed people to come to church and hear God’s word. 

In 2025 CCMB felt the need to expand to a larger building as it felt the growing pains from having four Sunday services. In June of 2025 Calvary Chapel Myrtle Beach purchased 310 Piling Dr. And is in the midst of a remodeling and construction process to expand its size. 

We look forward to what God has for CCMB in the coming years; but our hope and prayer is that the Master comes soon.
